Vacating Your Criminal Conviction in Washington
In the state of Washington, there are laws in place that allow individuals with previous criminal convictions to go through a process to clear misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors and felonies from their criminal record. Certain circumstances must be present, however, and only people convicted of certain types of crimes will be able to have their charges removed from their records. The process of removing a conviction from a person’s record is called vacating your criminal conviction and at our Seattle law firm, we have attorneys who will be able to assist you with this process.
If you qualify to vacate your criminal record, you will be able to legally deny that you were convicted of the offense that has been vacated. Clearing your record does not mean that there will be no documentation of your conviction, it simply means that you can lawfully state to future employers, landlords, educational institutions or anyone else that you were not convicted of that particular crime or crimes.
If you are interested in clearing your record, you should speak with one of our attorneys to discuss your options. Certain offenses are not eligible and your lawyer can determine whether you can vacate your criminal record.
